Birthdays

I love, love, love birthdays, so I wrote a poem about it. Ta-da!

Birthdays

Birthdays are exciting
They're a very special time
A specific day to celebrate
Be you sixty-two or nine

I like to make a big deal
Of other people's days
Because when people make a big deal
Of mine, my day is made

We set this day aside
To help them know they're loved
It's only once a year
So why not make a fuss?

Next time it's someone's birthday
Do all you can
To make them feel way special
Go all out with your plans!

It's obviously not my best poem, but I liked it enough to share. :) Love you all!

Life of the Theatre

In one of my classes this year we had to write a free verse poem about something we love. I picked acting and this poem is one I wrote for the class. I know this is the first poem I have posted that doesn't rhyme, but, oh, well. :)

Life of the Theatre
The actors walk on stage
The audience stares
Quiet fills the room
Those acting inhale
The audience waits
The house is held in suspense
Actors bring the script to life
The audience laughs and cries
The room is filled with emotions
At the end, joy overcomes the actors
The audience walks forward to shake hands
And the theatre is quiet again

Peter Pan

I love to act and a few years ago, I got cast as Peter Pan in our co-op's play. In one of my classes this year we had to write a sonnet about something we love. I picked acting and this poem is one I wrote for the class.

Peter Pan
I enter on the stage
I act as Peter Pan
Speak the script, page by page
Get it right, for all the fans
I crow out loud
Kid’s eyes shine
Pan is proud
His face is mine
I do my best
To play the part
Kids do the rest
Their imaginations start
     Then it’s done
     This ends the fun
